Name: Trudi Simpson
Where did you grow up? : I grew up in Delhi…about a block and a half from where I live now.
When did you become a member of the Cornerstone community? : I started with Laura doing nutrition first…about 3 years ago. I joined as a gym member (South campus) last summer to prepare for a race I was doing with my husband. After the race was over, I had to stay. I just love the environment and the people!
What do you do when you are not at Cornerstone? (occupation, hobbies, etc.): I own a private STEM school and early childhood education center in West Chester. I am the president of my sons’ elementary school PTA. I am the administrator for my son’s soccer team. All of my “extra time” is spent running my children to their extracurricular activities (martial arts, art class, golf and 4H). When I’m not doing those things…I watch or listen to anything true crime!
What is your favorite workout movement? I feel strongest doing a deadlift. I think because I can pull so much more than the rest of the movements. I love core work too. However, I’m warming up to some of the more dynamic moves (cleans, snatches, etc.)
What is your least favorite movement your Coach makes you do? : Anyone who has been in a class with me knows that I cuss during burpees…EVERY TIME!
What is your favorite accomplishment since becoming a part of Cornerstone? Becoming more comfortable with lifting heavy is a huge thing for me. I have always done workouts with light weights in my basement. I am very cautious with all of the movements because I don’t want to hurt myself but I think being confident in the dynamic movements is my biggest accomplishment.
What is something about yourself that we might not know? My oldest son was born with a serious heart defect…which usually dominates my life. My kids will always come first. Many of my own health decisions are made with them in mind. Being a mom is, by far, my favorite job!
What advice would you give to someone just getting started in personal training at Cornerstone? Take all of the feedback graciously. Everyone I have met has been so supportive and helpful. I have never been a part of a community (especially women) who support one another instead of competing. I like that the culture here is one of self betterment…not of competing against one another.
What goals do you have for the rest of 2022? I have another obstacle course race in August. I hope to finish quicker than last year. I want to get in at least one RX workout per week!
Complete the statement – I am #allin Cornerstone because…..the people make me better! Everyone I have met at Cornerstone has been so supportive! There are so many strong women and they push me to be better! I love it!
