September Athlete of the Month – Ruth Hartenstein

Name: Ruth Hartenstein

What was your number one goal when you started at Cornerstone?

My number one goal was to get back into some strength training and build my functional fitness level to try to keep up with my family and grandkids.

What was your biggest challenge keeping you from achieving that goal?

My biggest challenge was time…when and what? And overcoming my mindset of “I’m too old for this” and fear of hurting myself during working out.

In what ways have the coaches impacted your success?

The coaches made me feel at home and have encouraged me right where I am. They have helped me with form and encouraged me to keep going.

How has your success empowered you in other areas of your life?

I feel stronger and have more energy (most days). Functionally, I can keep up with our grandson better, especially getting up and down from the floor.

How has the community helped you grow?

The community at Cornerstone has welcomed me in. I no longer dread walking in the door. It feels more and more like coming to hang with friends.

Complete the statement….I am #allin Cornerstone because…getting older doesn’t mean I can’t get stronger and have some fun in the process!
