September 2019 Male Athlete of the Month – Kevin Hoehn

September 2019 Male Athlete of the Month - Kevin Hoehn

Name: Kevin Hoehn

Where did you grow up? Cincinnati, Ohio

When did you become a member of the Cornerstone community? Around July of 2018

What do you do when you are not at Cornerstone? (occupation, hobbies, etc.) I work at the VA medical center in the radiology department as a CT/Xray technologist.  I like to play basketball, spend time with my wife, Stephanie, and our kids, Nolan and Hannah.

What is your favorite workout movement? My favorite right now is HSPU.  While I can’t do one quite yet, I am making progress.

What is your least favorite movement your trainer makes you do? Least favorite right now is anything overhead and pistols.

What is your favorite accomplishment since becoming a part of Cornerstone? One of my favorite accomplishments was competing in the Rookie Rumble competition back in April.  I am also enjoying how much energy and strength I have experienced/built up since joining.

What is something about yourself that we might not know? I’ve worn hearing aids since I was 3 years old. Funny story, I would turn my hearing aids off while at the free throw line in all my basketball games, so I couldn’t hear a thing. Also, it’s one of the reasons why I’m so quiet during workouts. Since there’s always background noises around the gym, it’s hard to communicate outside of a one-on-one conversation.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started in personal training at Cornerstone? Just remember that each day you show up to the gym, you’re leaving better than you were the day before.

What goals do you have for the rest of 2019?. I’d like to be able to do double unders, toes to bars, HSPU, kipping pull-ups and eat more vegetables. Also, I would like to participate in another competition.

Fill in the Blank I’m #allin Cornerstone because…. It’s the one hour a day where I don’t have to think about anything else. I can go in, lift some heavy weights (not really too heavy yet), push my body to the limit and walk out feeling better than I did walking in. A bonus is that I get to do this while working alongside some of the greatest coaches and members who encourage me every step of the way. Without Cornerstone, I wouldn’t have the drive or be as strong as I am today and for that I am truly grateful.
