Name: Blair Lyons
Where did you grow up? Born and raised in Tulsa, OK. We moved to Mason in June 2017.
When did you become a member of the Cornerstone community? June 2019.
What do you do when you are not at Cornerstone? (occupation, hobbies, etc.) Engineer. Our family loves to hike, camp, run, and bike. Other hobbies are F1 racing, investing, and finding new local eats.
What is your favorite workout movement? Everything gymnastics related, especially pullups.
What is your least favorite movement your Coach makes you do? WALLBALLS!
What is your favorite accomplishment since becoming a part of Cornerstone? My first bar muscle-up! I honestly never thought I’d be able to do one. I picked up tips and tricks from many coaches and members and did my first one less than 2 months from starting at Cornerstone.
What is something about yourself that we might not know? I have a stash of Chick-Fil-A sauce in my pantry that might be larger than the current inventory at CFA VOA.
What advice would you give to someone just getting started at Cornerstone? Set goals, short and long term and track them. Don’t get discouraged if you take a step back, it’s all part of the growing process. The key is learning from your mistakes, maintaining a positive attitude, and consistency. Also, don’t be afraid to ask your coaches or fellow members questions.
What goals do you have for the rest of 2020?. Handstand walks and ring muscle-ups.
Fill in the Blank
I’m #allin Cornerstone because….
The people and the atmosphere! I have met some really great people that push me to improve every day. I’m doing things at 40+ years that I didn’t, or couldn’t, do in my 20’s. The satisfaction I get from seeing myself and others improve keeps me coming back for more.
Each week I make a point to meet someone new at Cornerstone. It’s crazy how much many of us have in common, but wouldn’t know it unless we met. Turns out I’m not the only Okie in the box!
Finally, I’m #allin because I see the continuous improvements from the owners. From equipment upgrades (bikes, foam rollers, bands, bars, etc..) to investing in continuous education for the coaches. There aren’t many places, Crossfit boxes or other businesses, that do this and they don’t stay around very long.
