April 2019 Male Athlete of the Month - Quincy Pearson

Name: Quincy Pearson

Where did you grow up? Middletown Ohio

When did you become a member of the Cornerstone community? I think I’ve

been a member for 5 years now.

What do you do when you are not at Cornerstone? (occupation, hobbies,

etc.) I’m a career Firefighter/Medic for the City of Franklin. I’ve been there

for 12 years now. When I’m not there I usually like to stay outdoors doing

something. Fishing mostly but I’m horrible at it.

What is your favorite workout movement? Surprisingly to some I enjoy

picking up anything heavy. I seem to be decent at it. I don’t really have a

favorite lifting movement. Olympic lifting is my weakest movements though.

I guess anything strongman lift.

What is your least favorite movement your trainer makes you do? Another

surprise to some I absolutely HATE running. A guy of my size was not built

to run. I’ve decided I will bite the bullet if the zombie apocalypse comes

because that will be too much running.

What is your favorite accomplishment since becoming a part of Cornerstone?

I guess being able to walk away after the workouts even though it may take me

awhile to get up. Performing a bar muscle up was pretty cool too.

What is something about yourself that we might not know? I’m an open book

really. I was in show choir in high school so my jazz hands are on point. I

played violin for 9 years.

What advice would you give to someone just getting started in personal

training at Cornerstone? Enjoy the ride!!! The PR’s will come eventually but

it’s the work you put in and the community that will get you there. You

won’t get genuine excitement of your first pull-up at the big name gyms.

You won’t get a crowd of people pushing you to finish or them joining you to

get you through it. What you will get is a bunch of people happy to see you

walk through the doors. You will get a great coaching staff that will teach

you proper movements.

What goals do you have for the rest of 2019? I’ve been trying to drop the

pounds. Everything is moving in the right direction besides the pounds.

Other than that just try to stay as healthy as possible.

Fill in the Blank

I’m #allin Cornerstone because….our community and coaches make it easy to be.

Like previously mentioned big name gyms don’t care or wonder where you’ve been.

Everyone knows you name and is invested in you. I find myself excited to get to

the gym and throw down with fun people. I’m #allin bc without this place I would

be just sitting on the couch.
